Once upon a time
There was a mouse, not an ordinary mouse but an extraordinary mouse, as you will soon see.
One day Mouse was on his way to get some blackberries that grew in the hedgerows for his dinner, when all of a sudden a shadow came over him that grew larger and larger.
It was no ordinary shadow as there was a particular shape to it and one that Mouse certainly didn’t want to see. It was the shape of wings … owl wings … and Mouse knew that he was about to be dinner for Owl as blackberries were to be dinner for him.

I don’t take any credit for the nuggets of gold I’m about to pass onto you. They
are pearls of wisdom I have been lucky enough to have come across in my life, and
I hope they may be of some help to you.
Emily regularly stared out of her bedroom window at the chestnut man across the street. She was fascinated by the way he let down-and-out people put their potatoes on his fire to cook, even though they had no money to buy his chestnuts. They would laugh and talk all night, sitting around his fire keeping warm. She didn’t know where they went at night as when she got up to go to school in the morning they had gone; all except the chestnut man; he was always there. One day, Emily, through curiosity more than anything else, walked over to the other side of the street to ask him a question. So what is the set position?
It is when an opportunity appears that you benefit from, whether it’s your doing
or someone else’s. It can be an opportunity to make money, increase your profile
or expand your network. It could be a moment when timing and accuracy is paramount,
but what really matters is that you are aware at all times when the possibilities
arise.
They say it’s about being in the right place at the right time. I disagree. It’s
about being the right person in the right place at the right time. Because if you’re
in the right place at the right time and an opportunity arises and you’re not aware
of it then the opportunity is wasted.
Opportunities are like ships; everybody’s ship comes in. Whether you’re on the
dockside when it happens is another matter. After reading this book remember the
